Never Talk To Police - Even if You're Innocent

Many people are surprised to hear me say never talk to police – even, or especially, if they’re innocent. However, I am a firm believer in this. Time and again in my and other attorney’s cases, remarks made to police are taken out of context, used to incriminate a person for a crime they didn’t even realize they committed, or simply are re-told in a way that the person did not mean or did not even say. So now you’re asking, why should you care, if you’re innocent?

Come on, are you serious?

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you surely are aware that even innocent people get convicted of crimes. Even people guilty of certain crimes get convicted of crimes greater than what they actually did, many times because of their statements to the police.

The video posted below is an excellent description of the many reasons you should never talk to the police, guilty or innocent, by Professor James Duane of the Regent University School of Law. If you’re even considering taking this move, watch this first.

Never talk to police - talk to an attorney instead.
